Need for Clean Air Products
According to World Health Organization (W.H.O – 2024 Report) only 7 countries in the world meet air quality standards. These countries are Australia, Estonia, Finland, Grenada, Iceland, Mauritius and New Zealand. On the other hand, the worst air quality is mostly in Asia and Africa. The most polluted countries include Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Tajikistan and Burkina Faso. During 2022, it was reported by World Air Quality Report that the PM 2.5 level pollutants level in India is 10 times the WHO air quality guidelines. None of the cities in India meet the recommended standards. The economic cost of the crisis to India is estimated at over $150 billion annually. The health impact is far worse with an estimated three deaths every minute linked to air pollution in addition to heart and lung diseases and many other severe health effects. Thus, Elofic Industries is resolute to introduce clean air products based on above facts to clean our planet and contribute to Eco-Innovation.
The primary objectives of the clean air products are to improve air quality by reducing pollutant levels (Particulate and gaseous contaminants) thereby enhancing public health, promoting sustainability while meeting regulatory standards. The most obnoxious impurities in air are particles smaller than 2.5 microns and contaminant gases.
PM2.5 (Particulate Matter 2.5) refers to fine particles in the air with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or smaller. These particles can come from various sources such as vehicle emissions, industrial processes, wildfires, and agricultural activities.
PM 2.5 poses significant health risks due to its ability to penetrate deeply into the lungs and bloodstream, leading to respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Its small size allows it to stay suspended in the air for longer periods and travel long distances, contributing to air pollution even in areas far from pollution sources.
Comparatively, PM10 and beach sand particles are larger and may not penetrate as deeply into the respiratory system but can still contribute to air quality concerns and health impacts, especially in high concentrations or prolonged exposures. PM 2.5 particles are miniscule in comparison to a human hair. Thus, in concept the clean air products are developed to remove finest impurities from air along with the gaseous contaminants (SOx, NOx). The clean air products are targeted to be deployed at Urban Residents, Commercial Buildings, Industrial Facilities, homes, offices, cabin compartments and public spaces
